In many ways, Hans is the embodiment of the complete physicist: intense, thoughtful, measuring each word for its ultimate impact. An EVI employee for the past three years, Hans immerses himself in acoustics, electromagnetic propagation, and signal processing projects. His efforts encompass building electronics, writing code, performing theoretical analysis and calculation, and mechanical construction.
Prior to EVI, Hans worked at the University of Maryland. He appreciates EVI's professional but casual work environment. "The management structure is very responsive, and not as large or difficult as elsewhere. I have the resources and support staff that I need, and the opportunity to apply my creativity and imagination to customer problems."
Those "customer problems" have included designing and debugging electronics, coding digital signal processing, testing laser sensing technology, and mechanical design for piezoelectric sensors. "If you are into electronics, communications, or audio," he states, "there is a lot you can do here. EVI has encouraged me to try different approaches to problems."
Hans appreciates EVI's flexible work schedule because it enables him to kayak the local rivers after work. He also enjoys the opportunity to use his training and has learned a good deal about programming and electronics.
